Shrewsbury

The historic town of Shrewsbury is the county town of the beautiful county of Shropshire. The town of Shrewsbury attracts a multitude of visitors each year, many of whom flock to the town to see the historic Tudor architecture such as the black and white 15th Century buildings that line Wyle Cop and are littered around other areas of the town and are now home to various shops and independent retailers. The town boasts an original 15th Century market square where many varied events are held and which was also chosen as a location for the filming of the 1960’s musical film adaptation of a Christmas Carol, in fact the headstone that was used for Ebenezer Scrooge’s grave in the film can still be found in cemetery behind St. Chads Church.

Shrewsbury is also famed for the Quarry, which a large park on the banks of the river Severn, it is home to the Dingle with is an impressive floral garden open to the public at certain times of the year and each yeah the Annual Shrewsbury Flower show takes place there which attracts people from all over the country and is renown for the impressive firework display that is the finale of the show. The Brother Cadfael by Ellis Peters which feature a crime solving monk are also set in Shrewsbury.
